Marilyn Sue Green, age 78, of Effingham, Illinois, and formerly of Toledo, Illinois passed away at 3:43 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at her home.
Private family services were held with burial in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois. In loving memory of Marilyn memorials may be made to the Cumberland County Life Center and can be sent to the family 14111 East 875th Road, Effingham, Illinois 62401. Marilyn was born on December 6, 1944, in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence Kenneth and Sarah Elizabeth (Black) Darling. She married Larry Green on December 18, 1965, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2009.
Marilyn worked the Cumberland County Life Center for 20 years and later worked in the deli at Wal-Mart. She enjoyed gardening and reading.

Children – Sally (Paul) Furry of Effingham, Illinois; Tammy (Wes) Hankins of Mt Zion, Illinois, and Cindy (Danny) Lawhorn of Mattoon, Illinois
Grandchildren – Brandon Green, Brooke (Jerral) Pirtle, Rebekah Hankins, Brittany Hankins (Lamont Chaney), Robert (Danielle) Hankins, Marcus Curce, Alexis Lawhorn, and Martin Lawhorn
Great Grandchildren – Kash Pirtle, Caleb Lilly, and Malachi Chaney
Brother – Logan (Nancy) Darling of Florida and Ann (Joe) Brandenburg of Greenup, Illinois
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson Bryce Hankins.
