Patricia I. Volk, 89, of Olney, formerly of Ingraham passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at StoneBridge in Olney, IL.

Patricia I. Volk was born May 23, 1933 in Ste. Marie, IL to Thomas and Serena (Kocher) Kaufmann. She married Gilbert John "Gib" Volk on December 27, 1951 in Ste. Marie, IL. Gib preceded her in death on April 8, 2018.

Pat was an Army wife for the first several years of her married life to husband Gib. Their oldest child was born in Georgia where they were stationed. They then returned to their family farm in Wendelin and raised a family of 14 children. Pat was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, and reading. She also took pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. Pat was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin where she taught religion classes and also helped clean the church for a time. She had a strong Catholic faith. Later in life, Pat enjoyed puzzles and bird watching.

Volk is survived by daughter, Deb (Floyd) Holkenbrink of Teutopolis, IL; son, Phil (Karla) Volk of Wakefield, IL; daughter, Cathy (Jim) Lewis of Bible Grove, IL; daughter, Sandy (Tom) Webb of Jewett, IL; daughter, Lisa (Brian) Bohnhoff of Dietrich, IL; daughter, Becky (Carl) Will of Newton, IL; daughter, Mary (Vance) Woods of Newton, IL; daughter, Sherry (Todd) Shamhart of Newton, IL; daughter, Joyce Hartrich of Newton, IL; daughter, Judy (Phil) Zumbahlen of Newton, IL; daughter, Toni (Roger) Zumbahlen of Newton, IL; son-in-law Bob Westendorf ; daughter-in-law, Terri Wyatt Higgins; 39 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren; siblings, Millie Zuber of Olney, Leonard (Alice) Kaufmann of Effingham, Phyllis Edwards of Texas, Maynard (Elfreida) Kaufmann of Ste. Marie, and Mary (Paul) Gurski of Florida; sister-in-law, Petronilla Volk and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband; sons, Chuck and John Volk; daughter, Jan Westendorf; son-in-law, Scott Hartrich; and grandson, Shane Lewis.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with a one hour visitation beforehand from 9:00-10:00 AM. Interment will take place following the Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Wendelin.
