With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Leona Faye Yoder, 86, our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend to all whose lives she touched, on February 3, 2023. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her home in Casey, Illinois.

Leona was born on July 30, 1936, in Herrick, Illinois, the daughter of Louis “Dick” Albert and Mildred Vivian (Forbes) Lorton. She married her soulmate, Charles L. Yoder, in Arizona on November 6, 1963, and they were blessed with 59 years of marriage. Leona was an avid seamstress and quilter, but also enjoyed watching the Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals. Her role as a homemaker is what Leona cherished most in life.

She leaves behind her husband, Chuck of Casey, Illinois; two daughters: Jo Sunshine of Phoenix, Arizona and Teresa Lee (Tom) Elkins of Mazatlan, Mexico; sons: Charles Craig (Patty) Yoder of Front Royal, Virginia and Jeffery Lane Yoder of Colorado Springs, Colorado; ten grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Marcia Freeman of Texas, Marilyn (Tom) Narasaki of Effingham, Illinois, Sandra (Charles) Crouch and Sharon (Gary) Cable, both of Herrick, Illinois and brothers: Howard Brad Lorton, Gary (Anita) Lorton and Mike (Anita) Lorton, all of Cowden, Illinois.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 0 Grand Avenue, Cowden, Illinois 62422. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private family burial will follow in Buchanan Cemetery in Herrick, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Leona’s honor to Lincolnland Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, Illinois 62565.
