Davy “Joe” Haines, 67, of Louisville passed away at 8:02 pm Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana surrounded by his loving family at his side.

Joe was born on October 20, 1955, in Flora, Illinois the son of Morrison and Susan M. (McGeehon) Haines. He married Rita McGee on October 20, 1973, at the Louisville First Baptist Church. They shared 49 years of marriage. 

Joe worked as the Superintendent of Utilities for the Village of Louisville for many years, followed by time working for Zink’s in Louisville. 

Joe was a former member of Louisville Rotary Club, North Clay School Board, and Louisville Park District Board. He was a Little League Coach for many years for all of his kids.  

He was a proud, retired volunteer for the North Clay Fire Department.

Joe loved being outdoors doing many things at the Haines family farm. 

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Flora. 

Joe loved his family dearly and loved to spend as much time with them and their events as he could. 

Joe is survived by his wife: Rita Haines of Louisville; children: Jodi Schneider of Olney, Illinois, Andy (Erin) Haines of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Kyle Haines of Scottsdale, Arizona; 5 grandchildren: Avery and Braden Schneider of Olney, Hannah , Katie and Jace Haines of Spring Hill, 3 sisters: Carolyn (John) Blanton of East Peoria, Illinois, Patsy (Jim) Brewer of Vandalia, Illinois, Jeanne (David) Duke of Louisville, Illinois; special in-laws: Tom (Nancy) McGee of Louisville, Terry (Carole) Birch of Louisville, Marla Groves of Louisville and several nieces and nephews. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Bill Haines, and Jim Haines 

Funeral services to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 3, 2023 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Pastor Kelly Carruthers officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
