Loretta Faye Wallace, age 82, formerly of rural Montrose, Illinois, passed away at 5:31 PM Monday, January 9, 2023, at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, Illinois.  

Funeral services celebrating Loretta’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. Burial will be in the Island Creek Cemetery in rural Montrose, Illinois.   Visitation will be held 9:00-11:00 AM – Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the funeral home. Loretta was born on July 14, 1940, on the family farm in Cumberland County, Illinois, the daughter of Tom and Mary (Plummer) Wisner. She married Russell Harley Wallace on January 20, 1957, at the Toledo Christian Church. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2020.

Loretta was a cook at the Grove Elementary School for several years. She also had a paper route for the Effingham Daily News.

Loretta was a faithful member of the Woodbury United Methodist Church, and she and Russell dedicated their lives to leading music at the church. They also led music for many local revivals. She loved the Lord and was happiest when she was playing the piano at church or at home.

Loretta is survived by: 4 Sons and 12 Grandchildren – Stanley and Linda of Newton, Illinois, and their children - Allison (John) Ferguson, Amanda (Gary) Bowker, Kaitlin (John Logan) Zink, and Kimberlin (Jordan) Michels, Michael and Kim of Greenup, Illinois, and their children - Nicole (Ryan) Guldenstein, Ashley Dorworth and Brittany (Tyler) Zimmer, James and Doneda of Trilla, Illinois, and their children - Matthew (Heather) Wallace, Heather (Kenny) Haggard, and Justin (Tiffany) Wallace, Mark and Toni of Evansville, Indiana, and their children - Mackenzie (Adam) Blankenberger and Kaleigh Wallace; Brother – Donnie (Barb) Wisner of Mattoon, Illinois; Sisters-in-law - Vera Hetzer of Newton, Illinois, and Luella Wells of Effingham, Illinois; Brothers-in-law – Ron Hoyt of Springfield, Illinois; and Jack Pierce of Mattoon, Illinois; 20 Great Grandchildren with 2 on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ivan Lee Wisner and a sister Shirley Hoyt.
