Larry Lee Woods, age 80, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 5:39 PM Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Mike Knepper officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery in rural West Liberty, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM. Larry was born on July 12, 1942, the son of Noah and Hazel (Stanley) Woods. He married Norma Drewes Stone on August 23, 1972, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. Larry graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1960. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed mowing and tending to his yard. Larry was a member of the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. He was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed quail hunting.
Larry is survived by:Wife of 50 years – Norma Woods; Children – Ron (Vicki) Woods of Bertrand, Missouri; Billie (Woody) Wyatt of Dyer, Indiana; and Brian (Pam) Woods of Newton, Illinois; Grandchildren – Adam Woods, Holly (Dustin) Erwin, Adam (Hannah) Schafer, Will Wyatt, Emma Jenks, Aubrie Jenks, Hadley Woods, Maisyn Woods, and Ryatt Woods; Great Grandchildren – Braeden Erwin, Jovie Erwin, Kamryn Erwin, and Azriel Woods.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law Delbert and Mildred Drewes.
