Adele Krueger, 100, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 16, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to HSHS St. Anthony Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Adele was born June 17, 1922 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Engbring) Poppelmeyer. She married Paul E. Krueger on June 15, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1990. Adele was a member of St. Anthony Church in Effingham, the Third Order of St. Francis, and volunteered with the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.

Over the years, Adele was the owner of a 4-chair beauty salon in downtown Effingham. She continued this profession over her lifetime. Adele enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales, loved playing the piano, and was an avid reader and traveler. She was always the life of the party and was a mentor to many. Her family was her joy, always. She had a special way to make every holiday special.

Adele is survived by her son, Bill of Effingham; daughters, Marilyn Shoffstall of Effingham, Margaret (Robin) Knight of Sedona, AZ and Elaine (Tony) Kinkelaar of St. Peters, MO; grandchildren, Nicole Shoffstall, Ryan (Nicole) Kinkelaar, Andi (Nick) Matthews, Max Knight and Ashley (Aurion) Lewicki; granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Shoffstall; five great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Ronald Shoffstall; grandsons, Grant Shoffstall and Oliver Knight.
