Following his first semester there, he was drafted into the Armed Services for which he served March 1954 through January 1956. Following his retirement from teaching, he was a school bus driver and worked as a manager at Lincoln Land Amusement Park. He and Shirley worked with the youth choir/youth group for several years in the 1970s; and then in his later years, Carl was a part of the tech team for worship services. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (KJV): But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
