Dana Albert Starwalt, age 93, of Montrose, Illinois, passed away at 12:33 PM Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Cumberland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenup, Illinois.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 2, 2022, at Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Pastor Irvin Figgins officiating. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery in Jewett, Illinois, with full military rites by the Cumberland County Veterans Association. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. Dana Albert Starwalt was born on November 19, 1929, in Jewett, Illinois, the son of Albert and Lesta (Alumbaugh) Starwalt. He married Evelyn Marietta Yaw, on June 11, 1949, and she preceded him in death on March 19, 1996. 

Dana retired from National Homes, after many years of service as a carpenter. He was a member of the Toledo Christian Church. Dana served his country in the United States Air Force from December 14, 1951, until his honorable discharge on December 1, 1955. Dana enjoyed woodworking, camping and taking side by side rides with his dog “Angel.”

Dana is survived by: Children – Ronald (Deb) Starwalt of Teutopolis, Illinois; Sharon (Terry) Trostle of Toledo, Illinois; and Terri (Bill) McGinnis of Jewett, Illinois; Daughter-in-law – Shirley Starwalt of Gila, Illinois; 8 Grandchildren – Travis (Lisa) Starwalt, Todd Starwalt, Michelle (Lee) Doedtman, Christina (Bill) Sowers, Jason (Elizabeth) McGinnis, Amy (Andrew) Reynolds, Jolynn (Johnny) Brown, and Mandy (Cody) Lewis; 16 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Dana was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Donald Starwalt, brothers Jack Starwalt and Ivan Starwalt, and sisters Minnie Kibler, Edith Marrs and Maudeline Miller.
