Laura Etta Whipple, age 80, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 at her home.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2022 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood with visitation starting at 10 a.m. until time of service. Finney Eddington will be officiating. Laura was born on March 29, 1942 in Grand Chain, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest J. and Hazel L. (Warren) Hutton. She married Abie Whipple on May 1, 1959 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She loved music, especially Loretta Lynn and Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed going to resale shops and yard sales and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by her sons, Abie Whipple Jr. (wife Vicki) of Laclede, Terry Whipple (wife Amy) of Laclede, Bobby Whipple of Laclede, Alfred Whipple (wife Melissa) of Laclede; daughters, Brenda Whipple (husband Georgie) of Vandalia, Ellie Oaks (late husband Randy) of Laclede, Wanda Newell (late husband Adam) of Laclede, Mary Lou VanMeter (husband George) of Watson, Angel Whipple of Laclede, Lulabelle Reid (husband Paul) of Laclede, Una Newell (husband Joeye) of Laclede, and Linda McBride (husband Richard) of Laclede; several brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Abie Whipple Sr.; parents, Ernest and Hazel Hutton; son, Lonnie Whipple; two grandchildren, Jedda Santos and Kreed Whipple; son-in-law, John Thomas Jr.
