Gene Rodney Keller, 68, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away at 7:45 am Sunday, October 16, 2022, at his home.

Gene was born on January 1, 1954, in Devils Lake, North Dakota the son of Leonard P. Keller and Dorothy V.(Lauckner) Jaeger. He had received an Associate Degree in Business from Devils Lake Junior College in ND. Gene worked for the BNSF Railroad in track maintenance for 31 years in ND. He married Renee Ann Moffett on May 19, 1990, Rapid City, South Dakota, and they shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. Gene had many hobbies such as a ham radio operator, pool league, bowling league, curling and loved to travel with his family, but most of all Gene loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was an avid sports lover, always enjoying a good game of football, basketball, baseball, or hockey. Gene was a volunteer firefighter in ND., member of the Jaycees in ND, and was a member of the Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville, IL and Strong Tower Baptist Church in Flora, IL. He was always ready to participate in any church activities, including men’s Bible Study, VBS, reaching the lost, and read his Bible regularly.

Gene is survived by his wife: Renee Keller of Louisville; children: Sarah Keller of Louisville, Ryan Keller of Louisville, Patricia Curran of Louisville, Cheyenne Casolari (John) of Flora, Angelina Keller of Norfolk, Virginia, Duane Keller of Louisville; Foster children: Devon Morgenstern, Jentre Heitman, and Hunter Gregory; grandchildren: Hannah Moeri of Fairview Heights, IL, Tyler Moeri of Flora IL, Zachery Moeri of Louisville, Larkin Buchanan of Louisville, Isaiah Keller of Louisville, Jaycee Keller of Louisville, Jazey (JJ) Keller of Louisville, Vayla Harris of Louisville, Jazzlynn Keller of Louisville; 2 great grandchildren: Lucy Aguilar-Moeri, Renleigh Walston; mother: Dorothy Jaeger of Fargo, ND; stepmother: LaDonna Keller of New Rockford, ND; brother: Steven (Tina) Keller, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; sister: Connie (David) Hoerer of Rock Lake, ND; brother in law Jim Moffett (Kristi), ND, sister in laws: Shari Snobeck (John), ND, Cammy Haugen (John), ND and he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his father: Leonard Keller; paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents, mother in law Marianne Moffett, son: Joshua H. Lloyd Keller, nephew: Joey Haugen.

Funeral services to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Ron Closson officiating. Burial will follow at the Red Brush Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home where friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
