John A. Shuemaker (91) of rural Neoga

John A. Shuemaker 91, of rural Neoga, Illinois passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022, in his residence.
He was born May 16, 1931 in Shelby County, Illinois the son of Ralph E. And Ella N. (Price) Shuemaker. Mr. Shuemaker married Marjori Shapland September 26, 1954 in Kempton, Illinois. John was a Grain Farmer. He served in the United States Army. He was a Korean War Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Gaskill United Methodist Church in Ash Grove Twp., Illinois and a former member of the Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife Marjori Shuemaker of rural Neoga, Illinois; son John D. Shuemaker (Becky) of rural Windsor, Illinois; daughters, Jenean Koester (Ken) of Charleston, Illinois and Teresa McMillan (Mike) of Taylorville, Illinois; grandchildren, Tommy Koons, Seth McMillan (Mellisa), Jennifer Martin (Ryan), Sarah Rosenthal (Sean) and Cory Shuemaker (Tara); thirteen great grandchildren (and one expected); sister, Beverly Nottingham of Mattoon, Illinois.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Shuemaker, Kenneth Shuemaker and Charles Shuemaker; sisters, Evelyn Horath and Barbara Palmer. Memorials are suggested to the Gaskill United Methodist Church C/O Marjori Shuemaker or Peace Meal.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday October 12, 2022 in the Gaskill United Methodist Church in Ash Grove Township, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday October 12, 2022 one hour before the services also in the church. The Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
