Charles Edward "Chuck" Mahaffey (77) of Edgewood

Charles “Chuck” Edward Mahaffey, age 77, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 1:07 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood. Masonic Rites will be observed. Burial will be at a later date at Keens Chapel Cemetery. Instead of sending flowers, the family would appreciate for memorials to go to Shriners, Effingham Humane Society, or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.
Chuck was born on November 5, 1944 in Fayette County, Illinois, the son of Carl and Pauline (Simmons) Mahaffey. He married Karen Myers on August 1, 1966 in Salem. He worked as an operator for several years with union local 841. Chuck was a member of the Edgewood Masonic Lodge, Sons of American Legion, and a volunteer firefighter for 33 years. Chuck volunteered with the Village of Mason for several years. He was known for town patrol for both the Edgewood and Mason areas, loved mowing, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Mahaffey of Edgewood; son, Neil Mahaffey (wife Denice) of Edgewood; daughters, Kayla Legg (husband Ervin) of Mason and Kendra Kuhlman (husband John) of Mason; six grandchildren, Kacie, Sadie, JT, Allie, Taylor, and Avery; six great-grandchildren, Karlee, Gracelyn, Maddelyn, Ashlyn, Kinley, Kohen; and his best furry friend, Penny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pauline Mahaffey; son, Brad Mahaffey; brother, Glenn Mahaffey.
