John Calvin Crawford, age 89, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 8:47 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Graveside service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Griffith Cemetery in Brownstown. Jim Giffin will be officiating. Memorials may go to St. Elmo Lion’s Club, St. Elmo Library, or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.
John was born on June 14, 1933 in Brownstown, Illinois, the son of Archie and Genevieve (Stolte) Crawford. He married Barbara Lee Jenkins on July 8, 1953 at Brownstown Christian Church. John served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Elmo Lion’s Club for 50 years, VFW, and Brownstown Christian Church. He enjoyed fox and coyote hunting and trapping and working in his garden. John loved his Goodman Foxhound show dogs.
He is survived by his two sons, Rodney Crawford and Donald Crawford both of St. Elmo; sisters, Mildred Lear (husband Bill) of West Salem and Sue Ferrel of Elkville; grandchildren, Zach Crawford, Wesley Crawford (wife Jessica), and Michael Crawford; great-grandchildren, Heath, Vivian, and Juniper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Genevieve Crawford; stepmom, Evie Crawford; his beloved wife, Barbara Crawford; brother, Lewis Crawford; sisters, Erma Glover and Marjory Ashburn; daughter-in-law, Beverly Crawford; brothers-in-law, Glen Glover and Don Ferrel.
