Donald L. Holsapple, 93, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away peacefully Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup.

He was born August 4, 1929, just west of Greenup, the son of G. Kenneth and Alice (Brewer) Holsapple.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday August 23, 2022, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery with Military Rites by Cumberland County Veterans.

Don served in the Air Force in Korea as a radio repairman. On July 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Elloise Isley, after which they farmed together on her family place raising grain, cattle, and hogs. They loved to travel together and took many trips all across the country visiting friends and relatives along the way. They spent many winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, among friends from across the US and Canada. Don was involved in community activities, serving on school and nursing home boards, as an election official along with leadership roles on agricultural committees. Besides watching his crops grow, he loved the Cubbies and vine ripened tomatoes.

Memorials may be made to the Greenup United Methodist Church or the Greenup Little League.

Donald is survived by his wife and sons, Brad (Angie) of Metamora, Illinois, George (Janice) of Jewett, Illinois; six grandchildren Kelsey (Tommy) Keyser, Ryan Kim Holsapple, Derek Holsapple, Shelby Holsapple, Tyler (Pauline) Holsapple, and Thad Holsapple; five great-grandchildren Easton and Noah Keyser, Charlie and Paige Holsapple, and Nadia Holsapple.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald.
