Marilyn M. Calvert, 87, of St. Elmo, died at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown with Nathan Brands officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Marilyn was born on Friday November 23, 1934 in Brownstown to John and Madge (Springman) Brown, the eldest of 13 children. She married Revis D. Calvert on June 5, 1955 and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2013. She worked at First National Bank of Vandalia for 59 years and served as head cashier. Marilyn was a member of the St. Elmo American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, St. Elmo Improvement Association, St. Elmo Women’s Club, St. Elmo Birthday and Centennial Committee, Band Day, Save-Our-Pool, and PTA. Vandalia Soroptimist Club, Grand Levee, and had served as treasurer for the Fayette County American Cancer Society. Marilyn and Revis operated Eagles Nest Concessions for many years.

She is survived by; daughter, Daryl (Don) Reed, St. Elmo; brother, Jake Brown, Brownstown; sisters, Suzanne Immen, Carbondale, Dorothy Whitlock, Effingham, Jewel Brown, Heartville and Janet (Ed) Van Sant, Farina; and grandchildren, Jaimee Calvert, Krysta (Larry) Tish and Revis Reed; great grandchildren, Kaden, Jaxson, and Torin Tish, Madalynn and Corrigan Blankenship.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; son, James Calvert; daughter-in-law, Karen brothers, Lewis, William and Robert Brown; and sisters, Isabelle Brown, Georgia Childers and Betty Lou Brown and Mary Duffy.
