George Schuyler Wiley, 93, of Louisville passed away at 8:56 am Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Cisne Rehab and Health Care Center in Cisne.

George was born on February 22, 1929 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Fred Ralph and Wilma Rose Ann (Clark) Wiley. He joined the US Navy and served his country honorably during the Korean War. He married Phyllis Marie Deain on October 30, 1954, and they shared 47 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on January 21, 2002. He worked various jobs over the years -including Fedders in Effingham, the Clay County Highway Department, and at Don’s Duds on the Square in Louisville. He was an avid gun collector and hunter. Being outdoors and hunting were some of his favorite activities, but he most loved to racoon and deer hunt and raised many dogs to assist in his hunting. He attended all the sporting events at North Clay. He was a member of the NRA, the Flora Coon Club, the Louisville American Legion Post #914, and the Wabash Baptist Church. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Mr. Wiley is survived by his 6 children; Dennis (Nancy) Wiley, of Louisville, Naomi (John) Winterrowd, of Mason, Mark (Leann) Wiley, of Geff, Paula (Fred) Riley, of Flora, LeeRon (Rebecca) Wiley, of Louisville, Scott (Debra) Wiley, of Louisville, 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, with one on the way, and 2 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson; Justin Wiley, 3 brothers; Jim Wiley, Perry Wiley, Fred Wiley, 2 sisters; Barbara Stanford, Thelma Deain.

Funeral services honoring the life of Schuyler will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville, with Kevin Knieram officiating. Burial will follow at the Christian Home Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wabash Baptist Church or the Flora Coon Club, and will be accepted through the funeral home.
