John F. Krost (93) of St. Elmo

John F. Krost, 93, of St. Elmo passed away early Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Carle Hospital in Champaign, IL.

Frank was born October 10, 1928 in St. Elmo, IL to Gilbert and Marie (Hiatt) Krost.  He married Delva May Jennings on November 2, 1952, she survives.

A family and friends interment service will be held in Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Pastor Dan Laack, Pastor Jason Schifo, and Revered Todd Krost will be officiating.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of St. Elmo or Illinois Churches in Action on Alcohol and Addiction Problems, (ILCAAAP) 1132 W. Jefferson St., Springfield, IL. 

Frank worked in the oil fields in Illinois and Montana, specializing in fishing tool operations. He operated Krost Drilling, worked for various independent operators and producers. Frank also delivered bedding plants for Richardson Brothers greenhouse, painted homes and was the custodian at St. Elmo First United Methodist Church. He served as an alderman on the St. Elmo City Council in the early 2010’s.

He is survived by his wife, Delva Krost of St. Elmo; two daughters from a previous marriage, Pam Winchester of Lander, Wyoming and Brenda Hamilton of Columbia Falls, Montana; two sons, Mike (Vicki Sarver) of Chillicothe, IL and John (Carole Fox) of St. Elmo; two grandchildren, Tasha (Pastor Jason) Schifo of Mahomet, IL and Rev. Todd Krost (Christina) of Mattoon, IL; 7 Great-Grandchildren Jakob, Mollie, Abigail and Samuel Schifo as well as Madeline, Ava and Harper Krost. Frank is also survived by a half-brother, Bob Davis (Virginia Hancock) of Washington, MO.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Audrey Casey; and a grandson, Brian McCoy.
