Mervyn L. Reisner, 92, of Gila, IL. passed away at 5:40 am on April 8, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 16, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery in Gila, IL with Military Rites by the Jasper County Veterans.

Mervyn was born on May 19, 1929, in Jasper County, IL, to Victor and Ruth (Coad) Reisner. He married Winona Wilson on September 24, 1949. Mervyn is survived by his wife of 72 years; daughters, Debra (Gary) Michl and Jane (Harold) Field; grandchildren, Ryan Michl, Courtney (Travis) Miller, and Dylan Field; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Graci, Marli, and Kinli Michl and Mackenzie, Megan, and Maleah Miller.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother George (Dorothy) Reisner.

Mervyn joined the United States Air Force and served our country during the Korean War from 1951-1955. In September of 2017, he had the privilege to attend the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight with other veterans. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Newton American Legion, Farm Bureau, and the Gila Lutheran Church. He attended the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Newton, IL.

He enjoyed his winters in Florida, going fishing, mushroom hunting and having family fish fries. He also enjoyed gardening and being able to share the produce with family and friends.
