Roscoe was born August 17, 1942 in South Muddy Township, Jasper County, Illinois, the son of Homer & Mamie (Clagg) Elmore.  He married Edith Elaine Tarr on December 15, 1961, and she preceded him in death on June 18, 2015.

Roscoe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  In his early years, he worked for Bender Brothers Construction building elevators all over Illinois. His passion and true calling was farming, by which he supported his family for many years. He loved driving the combine.  Even after he retired, you would find him in the field driving the combine as often as he was able. Many mornings would find him in the Niemerg’s parking lot waiting for them to open at 6 a.m. for a Heavy Duty or Farmer’s Breakfast.  He enjoyed mushroom hunting, quail hunting, ‘coon hunting and raising a few Standardbred race horses.  He was very proud of one he affectionately called “Dummy”.  In recent years he got immense joy from taking his puppy “Popeye” on adventures around the countryside in his Kubota side-by-side. He was a member of Winterrowd Masonic Lodge #664 and a Shriner and member of the Ainad Temple and the Jasper County Shrine Club.
