Carrie Evelyn Phillipi (88) of Greenup

Carrie Evelyn Phillipi, 88, passed away at 9:41 pm on Wednesday March 16, 2022, at the Gibson Union Care in Terre Haute, IN.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday March 22, 2022, at 12:00 pm at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday March 22, 2022, from 11:00 – 12:00 pm at the Barkley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Ruffner Cemetery.

Evelyn was born on October 22, 1933, in Sullivan, IL, the daughter of Chester and Grace (Herendeen) Alumbaugh.

She is survived by her sons, Tim Phillipi, and Troy (Rhonda) Phillipi; daughters, Tricia (Kim) Conley, Tammy Ormsby, Teenna (boyfriend Chuck) Bline, Tonya (Gary) Nohren, and Tracie (Steve) Devall; brothers, Jack (Carla) Alumbaugh, and Gene Alumbaugh; twenty grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Phillipi; her parents, daughter, Terri Mancell, and sons, Michael, and Ted Phillipi; and brother, Bart Alumbaugh; sisters-in-law, Pat and Marge Alumbaugh.

Evelyn loved bowling, outdoor activities, and family reunions. She loved decorating for every holiday. She enjoyed playing cards at the senior center, and her weekly bible studies. Evelyn was a writer and enjoyed writing stories and reading books. She loved to laugh and joke around. Evelyn was a very friendly lady and met no strangers. Evelyn worked at the Ettelbrick Shoe Factory in Casey, IL for most of her life.
