Leonard Monroe Walker, 77, of Madison, FL, formerly of Effingham, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

A celebration of life with Masonic and Military Rites will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery in Mason, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mason Cemetery or the Patriot Guard Riders. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.

Leonard was born February 18, 1944, in Effingham to John L. and Thelma J. (Davis) Walker. He graduated from Dieterich High School in 1962.  Leonard served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967 and was assigned to the USS Sellers.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Leonard was a proud pipeliner, belonging to both the Union of Operating Engineers as well as the Teamsters.  He worked many years as an operator and lowboy driver for several pipeline companies including MK Rivers and Murphy Brothers from coast to coast including the Alyeska Pipeline with his dad and brother-in-law. The family legacy of working on the pipeline was passed down to his daughter, stepson, nephews and great nephew.

He married his wife Robin November 4, 1991. He retired in Florida and enjoyed boating, fishing, and of course his favorite pass time, TV!

Leonard is survived by his children, Jay (Joy Lou) Walker, Anjie Walker (Bobby Cooley), John (Jennifer) Boller Jr., Tina (Dan) Dooley, and Ryan (Ashley) Boller; sister, Juanita (Ronnie) Bracey; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and former wife, Marlene.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Robin Lee Walker; and daughter, Lisa Marie Walker.
