Sue was born on February 19, 1964, the daughter of John (Jack) and Barbara (Jane) Zerrusen of Effingham, IL. Sue was the third of seven children. She went to Teutopolis High School where she met her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Dennis. Sue and Dennis married on November 5, 1983 at Saint Mary of Help Church in Green Creek. The couple raised their three children in Ttown.

Sue was a well-loved elementary school and reading specialist teacher. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration and her Reading Specialist Certification from Eastern Illinois University. Sue taught for 25 years in the Teutopolis school district. Along with teaching, Sue enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family.

On top of being very involved in her community and career, Sue was an incredible mother. When her children were young Sue operated a daycare out of their home, so she was able to stay with her children. She supported them through all of their various school activities and helped them achieve whatever goals they set for themselves. This did not slow down as her kids entered adulthood. Sue would drop everything to help her children with countless moves and house projects. She traveled all over the country to see them, and became a huge support as her kids became spouses and then parents themselves. To say that Sue loved being a grandma is an understatement. Her seven grandchildren experienced many adventures and have priceless memories all because of Sue’s constant love and presence in their lives.

After she and Dennis retired they relocated to Panama and became a part of a wonderful community of ex-pats and Panamanians. They enjoyed playing pickleball, volunteering at numerous organizations, and spending time together. Sue lived life to the absolute fullest and her passing leaves a huge void in the life of everyone she touched.

Sue is survived by her loving husband Dennis; their children, Brandon (Jessica) Borries of Estes Park, CO, Aroyn (Jessica) Borries of Teutopolis, IL, and Sarah (Curt) Hegstrom of Ft. Collins, CO; her seven beloved grandchildren, Jack, Lucille, Allison, William, Olive, Lilly, and Kellen; her parents, Jack and Jane Zerrusen; and her siblings, Karla (Jeff) Jones, Greg (Theresa) Zerrusen, Tony (Doris) Zerrusen, Kevin (Jennifer) Zerrusen, Mark (Angie) Zerrusen, and Jennifer (Brad) Tonn; as well and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Adolph and Genevieve Niebrugge, and Sylvester and Laura Zerrusen; and In- laws, Roger and Betty Borries.
