Cecil Eugene Evans, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Lakewood, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville, IL.

Cecil was born on April 6, 1930, in Cowden, the son of Charles C. Evans and Verna (Harris) Evans. Cecil was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He married Rosemary Fisher on July 7, 1967 in Elkhorn, NE and they were blessed with one son, Mark and 25 years of marriage before her passing on December 15, 1992. Cecil worked at Norge in Effingham and construction in the Shelbyville and Decatur areas. Cecil loved to mushroom hunt and work in his garden.

He leaves to mourn sisters: Catherine Jennings of Beecher City, Shirley (Ray) Lee of Riverton and Ruth Ann Childress of Shelbyville and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Verna Evans; wife, Rosemary Evans; son, Mark Evans; brothers: Charles Robert Evans, Jerry Lee Evans, David Theodore Evans and John Everette Evans and two half-sisters: Naomi Carr and Emma Freeman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
