David Loyd Marlow, age 52, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 8:15 PM Friday, February 11, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating David’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Leon Hanley and Bob Sponsel officiating. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois, with full military rites by the Cumberland County Veterans Association. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home. David Loyd was born on June 9, 1969, in Toledo, Illinois, the son of Ronald Wayne Marlow and Sharon Kay (Croy) Ruyle. He graduated from Neoga High School with the class of 1987. He married DeAnn Sponsel on September 10, 1988, in Greenup, Illinois, and she survives. David served his country in the United States Army. David attended Ivy Tech in Terre Haute, Indiana, obtaining a degree in welding. He was a welder with Iron Workers Local #22, currently working at Marathon Refinery in Robinson, Illinois. David was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church in Toledo, Illinois, and the Wabash Valley Elohim Great Banquet Community. He enjoyed shooting guns, forging metal, doing mechanic work, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

David is survived by: Wife of 33 years – DeAnn Marlow of Greenup, Illinois; Mother – Sharon Ruyle of Charleston, Illinois; Father – Ronald Marlow of Greenup, Illinois; Children – Leah (Chris) Tracy of Hidalgo, Illinois and Logan Marlow (Kennedy Potempa) of Tolono, Illinois; Grandchildren – Brooklyn Meyer, Jude Tracy, Raquel Tracy and Elena Tracy; Siblings – Kristina Allen of Mattoon, Illinois; Rhonda (Larry) Budd of Casey, Illinois; Dayna (Gene) Schubert of Charleston, Illinois; and Kelli Marlow of Wisconsin; Step Siblings – Mike Ruyle, Mark Ruyle and Melanie Mathews; Mother-in-law – Marie Sponsel of Greenup, Illinois. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

David was preceded in death by his step father Hal Ruyle and father-in-law Larry Sponsel.
