Hilma Berg, 88, of St. Elmo, passed away, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Altamont with Rev. Marcus Manley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Friday, February 18th at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont and for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery or the donor’s choice.

CDC and IDPH guidelines with regard to COVID-19 must be followed. This includes, but is not limited to, face covering and social distancing.

Hilma was born on Sunday, September 17, 1933 in rural St. Elmo, Effingham County to August F. and Alma (Mercier) Berg. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of LWML and AAL (Thrivent). She worked at Paradees Dairy Rich in St. Elmo and retired from Owens-Brockway, Vandalia. She was famously known for her cookies and pies

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and her honorary grandson Torin Tish.

Hilma was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lorna Berg and brothers William, Arnold and Raymond Berg.
