Richard Leroy “Dick” Miller, age 83, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 12:34 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois. Richard Leroy better known as “Dick” was born on January 25, 1939, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Edward and Rosemary (Bergbower) Miller.  He married Ruth Fuson on January 8, 1966, and she preceded him in death on May 11, 2019. Dick owned and operated Miller’s Trucking in Newton for many years. Following his retirement, Dick rode a bicycle all around the Newton area picking up aluminum cans. Dick was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, watching westerns and loved to listen to Hank Williams, Sr.

Dick is survived by: Niece – Debbie Fuson of Newton, Illinois; Great Niece – Lea Ann Fuson of Effingham, Illinois; Great-great Nephew – Bryan Fuson of Mattoon, Illinois; Great-great Niece – Melissa Ann King of Kansas City, Kansas. Several cousins also survive.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother James Edward Miller.
