Lee Roy Peterson, 74, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:41 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday February 4, 2022 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Father Pawel Augustyniak officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Lee was born on December 6, 1947 in Lyons, NE, the son of Ralph and Minnie (Whaley) Peterson. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. Lee worked for 30 years as a U.S.D.A. meat inspector and then 20 years as a real estate appraiser and broker. He built his retirement home in Shelbyville. Lee enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing Cribbage and helping others. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville. Lee married Marsha Irene Brown on December 30, 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha; daughters, Katina Lynn Felt (George) of Elgin, IL, Tonya Jones (Tim) of Morris, IL and Heather Peterson of Joliet, IL; ten grandchildren, Brittany Melgoza (Robert), Matthew Reeves (Val), Dakota Reeves, Taylor Felt, Nicholas Felt, George Felt, Jared Jones, Hannah Jones, Aiden Turner and Ria Turner; five great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Taylor of Omaha, NE, Betty Rish of Gallatin, TN ; Mark Peterson of Gretna, NE, and Neil Peterson of Lincoln, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Krista Lee Reeves; son-in-law, Charlie Bacon, Jr.; and siblings, Donnie Peterson, Larry Peterson, Lola Persson, and Jean Bray.
