Emily Sue Painter (82) of Watson

Emily Sue Painter, age 82, of Watson, Illinois passed away at 8:16 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2022 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family.

There will be a private family service at a later date. Memorials may go to Ballard Nature Center to feed the birds, Effingham 4-H Extension Center, or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.

Emily was born on June 24, 1939 in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Benjamin Albert and Geraldine Elizabeth (Koss) Lewis. She married Bud E. Painter on January 13, 1957 and he preceded her in February 2008. She was the head cook for Unit 40 school district for several years. Emily had a love for fishing, playing cards, animals, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Tonna Percival (Fred), Dinah VanDelinder, Tim Painter (Shelly Trigleth); daughter-in-law, Sheryl Painter (Lowry); grandchildren, Angela Painter (Linda Matera), Carrie Mettendorf (Chris), Chas VanDelinder (Brittiny), Mindy McClelland (Kris), Kyle Painter (Brittney), Chad Percival (Rylee Case), Kelsey Painter, Logan Painter (Kaylee Wardlaw); great-grandchildren, Benjamin Mettendorf, Emma Mettendorf, Sawyer Mettendorf, Rigley Painter, Cozette Marte, Ivy Percival Case.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Geraldine Lewis; husband; son, Victor Painter.
