Daniel Wesley “Dan” Lomas, age 57, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:35 PM Monday, January 10, 2022, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral service celebrating Dan’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Gary Hall officiating. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. In loving memory of Dan, memorials may be given to Saved by Grace. Daniel, better known by his family and friends as “Dan” was born on December 19, 1964, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Cliff and Kay (McDowell) Lomas. He married Lisa (McElhiney) on August 20, 1988, at Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois. Dan was a hard worker, working all his life. As a teen he farmed with his dad, worked construction and most recently worked at Stevens Industries as a press operator. He loved animals, computers and gaming. Dan was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a graduate of East Richland High School, class of 1983.

Dan is survived by; Wife of 34 years – Lisa Lomas of Newton, Illinois; Daughter – Megan Lomas of Villa Grove, Illinois; Father – Cliff (Joan) Lomas of Olney, Illinois; 3 Sisters – Glenda (Byron) Clark of Birmingham, Alabama; Bobbi Lomas of Olney, Illinois; and Dawn Lomas Campbell of Olney, Illinois; Sister-in-law – Sheila (Greg) Brooks of Newton, Illinois; Mother-in-law – Shirley Carr of Newton, Illinois; Father-in-law – Jim (Carolyn) McElhiney of Robinson, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his mother Kay Lomas and father-in-law Dale Carr.
