Michael R. McWhorter (67) of Effingham

Michael R. McWhorter, 67, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Effingham. Michael was born on March 3, 1954, in Effingham, IL the son of Ralph McWhorter Jr. and Doris (Ziegler) McWhorter. Mike was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. He was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Mike also loved golfing and fishing.

Mike is survived by his children, Tim (Julie) McWhorter of Pickerington, OH, Hollie (John) Sarchet of Teutopolis, Sara (Shaun) Mitchell of Mason, and Derek McWhorter of St. Elmo; significant other, Elaine Brown of Effingham; 8 grandchildren; and brothers, Russ (Jean) McWhorter of Effingham and Rick (Sidney) McWhorter of Jefferson, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
