Norma Lee Swisher, age 94, of Newton passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Riverside Cemetery, Newton, Illinois with Tom Matson officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Newton. Memorial donations in honor of Norma may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund.

Norma was born in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Omer and Anna (Harvey) Manning. On April 26, 1965, Norma married Albert Ray Swisher. They shared thirty-eight years of marriage before his death on October 25, 2005. In her early years, Norma was a clerk at Spencer’s Cleaners in Newton and later worked in the deli of the Huck’s Convenience Store. After marriage, Norma became a farm wife and helped Ray farm. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, the Newton Women’s Club and the Red Hat Society. In her free time, she enjoyed jig-saw puzzles and volunteering at Vacation Bible School at First Baptist.

Norma will be lovingly remembered by her six nieces and her nephew.

Her parents, husband Ray, infant twin sisters and a nephew preceded her in death.
