Mark H. Dasenbrock, 67, of Indianapolis, IN, beloved friend and family member, passed away into the presence of Jesus on November 28, 2021.

Mark was born and raised in Effingham, IL, son of the late Harold and Helen Dasenbrock.

Mark was a kind soul with a loving spirit. He was best known for his great sense of humor. At family reunions, he always had people laughing at his various stories, and he loved joking around with his many nieces and nephews. Mark was deeply cared for by his friends, who knew him to be kind, sweet, and intelligent, and he will be greatly missed. Mark brightened the room with his ability to hold conversation. Mark loved and was loved by animals, especially his cat La Tres, named for her status as a “permanent trespasser” on his property.

Mark grew up in Effingham, IL, where he attended St. Anthony High School and graduated with the Effingham High School Class of 1973. In his late teens, Mark moved to Teutopolis, IL. There, Mark worked as a motorcycle mechanic with his brother, Patrick, at Weber Brothers Equipment. He began working at Yellow Freight, which eventually relocated to Indianapolis in the early 80s and transferred him to Indianapolis, where he had resided ever since. Following his work at Yellow Freight, Mark worked as a truck driver for many years. He was responsible for delivering USPS mail from Indianapolis to Washington, D.C. He later took on a local truck driving job before eventually retiring through the Teamsters Union.

In his free-time, Mark enjoyed working on old cars and motorcycles. His passion for vehicles stemmed from his younger years as a daredevil. As young teenagers, Mark and his brother would create go carts and minibikes to ride down the street. Mark also popped wheelies on his motorcycle while riding around his childhood neighborhood. He thoroughly enjoyed flying his motorized hang glider and riding his motorcycles, which he had turned into choppers with extended forks. Mark was also a proud member of the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Helen Dasenbrock and sister Joyce Dasenbrock of Effingham IL.

Mark leaves behind his dear friends Bonnie Miles and Joe Jones of Indianapolis, IN. Mark is survived by his siblings, Patrick Dasenbrock of Teutopolis IL, Janice Heynen of Effingham IL Mary (Michael) Altgilbers of Effingham IL, Steve (Karen) Dasenbrock of Effingham IL, Marsha (Gregory) McCracken of West Hartford CT., Thomas Dasenbrock of Effingham IL, Beth (David) Yerigan of Ankeny, IA and Cheryl (Darren) Johnson of Watson IL., along with 25 nieces and nephews.

After a long spiritual journey, Mark concluded that “Jesus is who He says He is” and identified as a Christian.

The family is planning a graveside service at a later date at Saint Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis, IL, where Mark will be buried next to his beloved grandmother, Florence Dasenbrock.
