Rebecca J. “Becky” Ulmer, 63, of Strasburg, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Van Brooks officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8:30 p.m. Monday, November 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery, near Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to the Strasburg Park Project.

Becky was born on December 28, 1957, in Pana, IL, the daughter of Ocus and Pauline Hardison Wells. She graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1975. Becky began working at International Paper in 1978 and worked there until her retirement in 2011. She then worked at the Strasburg Shortstop gas station and most recently at Kirby Foods in Effingham. Becky married Steven J. Ulmer on July 31, 1989. She was a member of New Hope Church in Effingham, IL.  Becky loved being a grandma, making gifts on her Cricut, and spending time with her dog, “Mercy.”

Becky is survived by her husband, Steve; daughters, Sarah Quast and husband Rob of Strasburg, IL, and April Ulmer of Newton, IL; son, Garrett Ulmer and wife Jaime of Shelbyville, IL; mother-in-law, Beulah Ulmer of Strasburg, IL; brothers, Jerry Wells (Cheryl), James Wells (Becky), and John Wells (Joy) all of Shelbyville; sisters, Paula Hubner (Roger), Pam Catona (Phillip), Loretta Agney (Brad), and Barb Hocking (Donavan) all of Shelbyville, IL and Christy Macklin (Brent) of Findlay, IL; sister-in-law, Janet Wells of Shelbyville, IL; and six grandchildren, Holden Schmidt, Bryce Brown, Dawson Quast, Kinley Quast, Kit Ulmer, and Kolt Ulmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ocus and Pauline; father-in-law, Richard Ulmer; brothers, Edward, Larry, and Raben Wells; and sister, Betty Markle.
