Juanita Marie Phegley (98) of Shelbyville

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Juanita Marie Phegley, 98, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on Monday, November 8, 2021, while peacefully embraced by family.

Born in Dexter, MO, on February 11, 1923, the daughter of Claude Foster and Edith Elizabeth (Mowry) Lawrence. Juanita and James Floyd McCan were married and they were blessed with one daughter, Kathryn, before his early passing in 1944. Juanita then married Lennel Phegley on December 7, 1946, in Mt. Zion, and they were blessed 65 years of marriage and five children: Judith, Paul, Becky, David and Pam. Juanita dedicated her life to the Lord, her husbands, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita is survived by her children: Kathryn McCan Kalaher (Ed) of Carlinville, Judith Cox (Robert) of Searcy, AR, Paul (Kathy) Phegley of Martinsville, Becky Pierson (Noel) of Shelbyville, David Phegley of Shelbyville and Pam Charlet (Tim) of AZ; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; grandchild, Daryl Phegley; great-grandchild, Frannie Cox; great-great-grandchild, Brayden Bennett and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Reverend Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
