Anita Jo (Courter) Holman, 81 of Teutopolis, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 6, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to MyMemoryWorx, Peace for Parkinson's, Effingham, IL or to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.

Anita was born December 16, 1939 in Bicknell, Inidiana, the first child of Harry Virgil and Mary (Thombleson) Courter. After the death of her father, her mother married Pete Perucca. Anita graduated from Bicknell High School and later worked as a telephone operator. She met Larry Laymen Holman and they married in Indianapolis on December 29, 1962. Anita and Larry moved to Teutopolis in 1965. Anita worked for Country Companies Insurance, Senator Glen Poshard and as a part-time baliff for the Effingham County Courthouse. Her most important job was a homemaker for her family. Anita Jo enjoyed sewing, bowling, dancing, playing bingo, and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Teutopolis Lady Shoes Basketball, Indiana Hoosier basketball and watching Tiger Woods play golf. Anita was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis.

Anita is survived by her husband, Larry of Teutopolis; daughters, Victoria (Kevin) Heitz of West Des Moines, Iowa and Laureen (Jeffrey) Thompson of Teutopolis; son, Joseph (Kristy) Holman of Teutopolis; grandchildren, Ralph "Marshall" Seaba, Rachel Coville, Cassidy Heitz, Kelly Heitz, Drew (Desteny) Holman, Jennifer (Dakota) Hoene, Leigha Hecht, Derek (Kayla) Thompson, Cierra Thompson and Shelby Thompson; great-grandchildren, Hadleigh Hecht, Evelyn Sites, Kinsley Holman and Saylor Hoene; sisters, Ernestine Kord of Indianapolis, IN, Toni Savage of Plainfield, IN and Linda (Jerry) Hayes of Bloomington, IN; aunt, Lulabelle (Lloyd) Salters of Vincennes, IN; niece, Kiley (Michael) Koenig, as well as other nieces and nephews.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rhonda Perucca and Mary Frances Cone.
