Glenn Earl “Blackie” Blackwell, 82, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 5:58 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor John Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL, with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to assist with expenses.

Glenn was born on November 3, 1938 in Lawrence County, IN, the son of Earl David and Lucille Ester Talbott Blackwell. He grew up in Clarksburg, IL and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1959. Glenn married Delores Irene Mose on August 12, 1975. He was a retired long haul truck driver, working most recently for Brad Fry Trucking in Assumption, IL. Glenn was a member of Prairieland Frontiersmen and Chautauqua Classic Cruisers. He enjoyed classic Lincoln cars, playing his banjo, watching Indy Car Racing and operating his amateur radio as “WD9HHB”.

He is survived by his wife, Delores; children, Faron (Vicki) Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL, April (Kevin) Baker of Grenada, MS, Jeremy (Jamie) Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL and Nathan (Lucinda) Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Marty Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Crystal (Jason) Eschert, Trevor (Rachael) Blackwell, Jeremy (Alexis) Blackwell, Phillip Blackwell, Eric (Rachel) Thomas, Kyle (Kayla) Thomas, Wesley (Diana) Thomas, Kaleb Baker, Dylan Baker, Ashli (Zach) Rhodes, Brittany Blackwell, Kaylee Phegley, and Hunter Whalen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carla June Thomas; infant daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Blackwell; daughter-in-law, Anita Blackwell; brothers, David Blackwell, Gerald Blackwell and Kenneth Blackwell; and one sister, Gletus Smith.
