David Lynn Spain (64) of St. Elmo

David Lynn Spain, 64, of St. Elmo, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

There will be no services at this time. Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo is assisting. Memorials can be made out to the family or Second Chance Animal Rescue of Fayette County.

David was born on March 24, 1957 in Vandalia to Edward and Kay (Guffey) Spain. He worked at Stevens Industries for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. David loved the St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini.

He is survived by two daughters, Traci Thoele and Taylor (partner, Neal Forston) Spain; son-in-law Josh Thoele; three grandchildren, Mason, Colsen, and Carter Thoele; his parents; his partner, Carol Dunn; sister, Pam Haslett and brother-in-law, Tim; brother, Kevin Spain; three nephews, Travis, Tyler, and Toby (Jeni) Haslett; great nieces, Parker and Saylor Haslett; great nephew, Silas Haslett.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry and sister-in-law, Marcia Spain.
