Rev. Theodore C. Gall, 68, of Effingham, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in the Weiss Cemetery, rural Atalissa, Iowa. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Theodore was born on November 9, 1952, in Racine, WI, the son of Ellis and Leona Casper. He grew up with foster parents, Ferdinand and Angelina Gall.

He married Ruth March on June 25, 1977, at Zion Lutheran Church in Atalissa, Iowa.

Theodore attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and then Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO to become a Lutheran Pastor. He served congregations in Murdo-Draper, SD; Mandan, ND; Morton, IL; Springfield, IL; and retired in 2019 while at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham as Senior Pastor, after 40 years in the Ministry.

He enjoyed Packer’s Football, Cardinal’s Baseball, war movies, and Civil War history.

Theodore is survived by his wife, Ruth Gall of Effingham; one son, Rev. Timothy (Tara) Gall of Pleasant Dale, NE; three brothers: Ellis “Bud” (Donna) Casper of Bayfield, WI; Wayne (Linda) Holmquist of Racine, WI; and Eugene (Star) Rich of Washburn, WI; and four sisters: Dixie Parmley of Delavan, WI; Clara (Peter) Walter of Muskego, WI; and Velma (Gary) Harvey and Cynthia Hudson - both of Washburn, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents and foster parents.
