Richard L. "Dick" Barger, 90 of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center of Mattoon, Illinois.
As per his wishes Cremation Rites will be accorded and there will be no public services at this time.The Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born August 6, 1931 in Janesville, Illinois the son of Finis and Hazel (Wheeler) Barger. Richard married Carol Johnson August 3, 1955 in Charleston, Illinois.
"Dick" served in the United States Navy and was retired from road construction with Laborer's Union. He was a member of the Neoga American Legion Post 458 and the Charleston Masonic Lodge #35 A.F. & A.M. of Charleston, Illinois. Mr. Barger was an avid trapper and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves his wife of sixty six years, Carol Barger of Neoga, Illinois; son, Kelly (Sharon) Barger of Neoga, Illinois; daughter, Shelley Barger of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Kelsey Barger of Mattoon, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Max Barger and Bob Barger.
