Robert Lee "Bob" Reisner, age 77, of Newton passed away at 12:19 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services celebrating Robert’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at Central Christian Church, Newton with Pastors Mike Knepper and Gary Hall officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021 and from 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 25th in the church. Burial will be in the Brooks Cemetery, rural Newton. Flag presentation will be conducted by Jasper Post #20 of the American Legion.

Robert was born on April 20, 1944 in Montrose, Illinois the son of Gordon L. and Nora Louise (Dittamore) Reisner. Robert served his country in the US Army Reserves. Robert married Dina Sue Walden on June 5, 1964. They shared forty-one years of marriage before her passing on July 1, 2005.

Robert was the retail manager for Arndt’s Store, Newton for over 50 years. During Robert’s years as manager, Hallmark cards and gifts were added to the variety store. Later, they began making and selling fudge in the store, at festivals, and by mail-order. For 21 years, Robert served as Alderman for the City of Newton. He duties included heading the street department and the waste water treatment plant. He helped in the planning and building of the new city pool, as well as the trail system.

His memberships include the Central Christian Church, past Deacon of Scott Avenue Christian Church at the time of organization and the Jasper County Bass Club. Robert enjoyed volunteering in the community, having worked on two Habitat for Humanity homes and with the Newton Jaycees. Together, with Gene Rich and Faye Miller, Robert helped to organized the first Fall Festival in Newton.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed fishing, golfing, taking care of the farm and side by side riding. His greatest love was being a dad and a “Pamp” to his grandchildren and great grandson.

Robert will be loved and remembered by his children Troy Reisner, wife Sondra of Littleton, CO and Beth Funneman, husband Tim Teutopolis, IL; grandchildren McKennzie Clark, husband Braden of Sullivan, IL, Mitchell Reisner of Newton, Jacob Reisner of Teutopolis, Anna Reisner and Ryan Reisner both of Littleton; great grandchild Tucker Reisner of Sullivan, IL; sisters Myrna Britton of Newton and Billie Yates, husband Bruce of Newton; family best friend Jane Hart of Newton; and sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws Millie Cameron, husband Dick of Glenwood, IL, Carol Roney, husband George of Champaign and Steve Walden of Cowden.

His parents and wife Dina preceded him in death.
