Anna Marie Niebrugge (95) of Effingham

Anna Marie Niebrugge, 95, of Effingham passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Anthony Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Anna Marie was born August 16, 1925 in Effingham, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Zerrusen) Herboth. She married Leonard H. Niebrugge on September 8, 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2004. Anna Marie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she attended daily mass and was involved in the Council of Catholic Women. She was a true Chicago Cubs fan including going to Wrigley Field several times. Anna Marie enjoyed playing cards and going camping. She and Leonard traveled oversees many times; one trip she actually rode a camel. While in Rome, her highlight was shaking hands with Pope John Paul II. Her family always looked forward to her cheesecake she brought to their family gatherings.

Anna Marie is survived by her four daughters, Mary Jane (Tony) Koester and Pauline “Pete” (Mark) Weber, both of Teutopolis, Joyce Kuharich of Springfield and Kathleen "Kate" (Roy) Weber of Effingham; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Anna Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Marty Kuharich; siblings, Agnes, Louis, Mary and Francis; great-great-granddaughter, Rosalyn Koester.
