Lois “Jean” Tucker, 98, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Cowden, IL, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville with loved ones by her side.

Jean was born on June 28, 1922, in Champaign, the daughter of Sidney and Gail (McManaway) Roberts. Jean and Virgil Tucker were united in holy matrimony on January 14, 1938, in Shelby County, and were blessed with 55 years of marriage before his passing on February 10, 1993. Jean worked as a CNA for Shelbyville Memorial Hospital for many years.

Jean will lovingly be remembered by her daughter, Joyce McElroy of Beecher City; son, Lanny (Diane) Tucker of Cowden; grandchildren: Pamela (Eddy) Watson, Amy (Matthew) Jones, Stephanie McElroy, Aaron Tucker and Andrea Hoover; grandson-in-law, Mike Reed; step-grandchildren: Missy (Kenny) Hudson and Tara Bly; five great-grandchildren: David (Gayla) Reed, Ryan (Jenny) Schaefer, Jamie (Daniel) Bell, Tim (Courtney) Reed and Chris (Mindy) Reed; 12 great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two siblings in infancy; brother, Louis Roberts; sisters: Bonnie Bolt Cutler and Portia McFall; son, Jerry Tucker; granddaughter, Debra Jo Reed; two great-grandchildren: Jason Watson and Carrie Reed.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in Mound Cemetery in rural Cowden with Reverend Darrell Hinkle officiating. Memorials may be made in Jean’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Make-A-Wish Foundation and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main Street, Shelbyville, IL 62565. Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
