Michael Everett Traub, 74, of Mason, passed away 9:03 PM Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Michael was born on September 22, 1946, in Effingham, the son of Victor and Mabel (Heiden) Traub. He married Theresa Ballard on May 31, 1969 in Louisville and they shared 51 years of marriage.

Michael was in the U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam War. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Louisville. He spent most of his weekends plowing with his horses and mules and visiting with friends. He worked at Best Homes, in the oil field, and worked as a heavy equipment operator for local 841.

He is survived by his wife; Theresa Traub, of Mason, 3 children; Tonni (Michael) Micklautz, of Louisville, Justin (Tammy) Traub, of Mason, Jennifer (Kevin) Billingsley, of Mason, 6 grandchildren; Nathan Micklautz, Stetsen Traub, Abigail Micklautz, Clayten Traub, Matthew Billingsley, Elizabeth Billingsley. He is also survived by 1 brother; David (Joyce) Traub, of Effingham.

Mr. Traub was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Steven Traub, and Dennis Traub.

Funeral services honoring the life of Michael will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louisville with Pastor Stephen Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the church where friends may call from 4 to 8 PM, and then on Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lutheran Care Center of Altamont, or the St. John’s Lutheran Church. McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville is entrusted with the care and arrangements.
