Wanda R. Higgs (72) of Altamont

Wanda R. Higgs, 72, of Altamont, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Mason Cemetery with Pastor Leroy Tucker officiating. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wanda Ruth Higgs was born on Saturday, May 1, 1948 in Charleston, IL to Charley and Beulah (Millage) Veach. She married Duane Higgs and he preceded her in death. She had been a homemaker.

She is survived by: her brother Lowell Veach and his wife Mickey of Mason; sister, Mary Alice Higgs of Altamont; sisters-in-law, Marilyn O’Leary of Edgewood, Barbara (Robert) Webster of Mason, Darlene (James) Dillingham of Port Ritchey, Florida; brother-in-law, Wilbert (Sandy) Higgs of Mason; nieces, Wanda (Kevin) Ellis of Altamont, Mary Ann Spesard, and Sherry Robinson; nephews, James (Jennifer) Stonum of St. Elmo, Wayne Allen Higgs, David Veach, Danny Veach, Kelly Veach and Ken Veach; and many other nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by; her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, John (Rose Mary) Higgs, brothers, Bud, Harold, Dale, Paul, Rex, Gilbert, and Max Veach; her sisters, Juanita Veach and Rachel Stonum; brothers-in-law, Roland O’Leary and Larry (Vera) Higgs; and a nephew, Carl Veach.
