It is with great sorrow that we share that Heaven gained an angel on Friday, April 16, 2021 when Sherry D. Hubbartt left this world for her Heavenly home.

Sherry was born on October 16, 1948, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Harley and Gladys (Neal) Hubbartt. She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1966. She worked for and retired from Graphic Packaging, formerly known as International Paper. Sherry was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. She enjoyed reading, watching the hummingbirds, people watching, sitting on her front porch and spending time with loved ones.

Sherry was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who loved people and people loved her. If you were blessed to have met Sherry, she was someone you would not forget. She would greet you with a hug and one could hear her from across the parking lot when she was happy to see you. She knew how to light up a room within seconds of entering. With everything she did in her lifetime, she did whole heartedly and she did for others in her community, often putting others before herself. She was the most selfless person one would ever meet. Her heart was as big as the world we live in. She was never one to ask for help, she was very independent, stubborn, strong willed and did not shy away from giving her opinion. Sherry had a heart of pure gold and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Sherry will lovingly be remembered by her son, Tony (Janie) Anderson of Effingham; beloved granddaughter, daughter, best friend, Alexandrea Marie (Brett) Reed of Shelbyville; two great-grandsons: Brantley Reed and soon to be Hank Reed; two brothers: Perry Hubbartt of Illinois and Bill (Eileen) May of Chicago; sister, Andra (Bernard) McDonald Benz of Illiopolis; daughter-in-law, Tara Bly of Shelbyville and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two beloved brothers: Jerry “Jed” Lane Hubbartt and Bob May; cousin, Kay Hubbartt Taylor and friend, Edward McNeese.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Jared Bouton and Reverend Mitch Ramey officiating. Burial will take place in Hubbartt Cemetery in rural Beecher City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, %Sherry Hubbartt, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
