Joan J. McCoy (82) of Effingham

Joan J. McCoy, 82, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL with family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joan was born on June 8, 1938 in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of Alfred and Zelda (Robrock) Bohnhoff. She married Medford D. McCoy on August 16, 1958, and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1996.

Joan enjoyed playing cards and going to bingo. In the past, she was an avid bowler. Spending time with family was important to Joan. She had a good sense of humor and a sweet tooth. To say Joan was an Elvis fan was an understatement. She loved Elvis.

Joan is survived by her son, Phillip McCoy (special friend, Genia Meyer) of Effingham; daughter, Tammy (Kevin) Stewart of Effingham; grandchildren, Stacey Lewis of Effingham and Stephaney McBride (fiancé, Garrett Pinter) of Effingham; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Braxton, Carson, and Layla; and sisters, Ruby Hingson, Karon Burroughs, and Nancy Hoene.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Oren Bohnhoff, Orval Bohnhoff, Grace Runde, and Sharon Skinner.
