James Robert Lawson, 92, of Toledo, IL passed away at 3:06 AM Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Casey Health Care in Casey, IL.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to service time on Wednesday. Masonic Rites will be given at 11:00 AM Wednesday. Burial will be in the Dodge Grove Cemetery.

Bob was born on September 25, 1928 in Moultrie County, IL. to Claude Arlie and Edith (Cline) Lawson. He married Sylvia Keplar on February 19, 1949 and she passed November 14, 1993.

He is survived by his sons, Richard (Barbara) Lawson of Kansas and David (Dana) Lawson of Mississippi; daughters, Dianna (Marc) Wright of Ohio and Malinda Wickiser of Casey; sister-in-laws, Eleanor, and Patti Lawson; special aunt, Delores Lucas; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Paul and Roy Dale Lawson; brothers, Irvin and Merle Lawson; and son-in-law, David Wickiser.

He held several jobs over the years hauling milk and working for Neimyer Feed Store in Mattoon and Columbia Machines until it’s closing. He had a passion for farming and enjoyed farming with his brothers. He later worked for Union Township and Cumberland County Road Department. Bob ran a locksmithing business from his home, helping many when they locked themselves out of something. Bob drove the bus for the Toledo Life Center for many years, delivering peace meals and taking trips telling his many stories along the way. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Toledo Masonic Lodge, and the Toledo Christian Church. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand where needed. Bob’s presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
