Berniece Pasley, age 93, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 9:07 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at New Horizon Church in St. Elmo, Illinois with a two-hour viewing prior to the service. PeeWee Denton will be officiating. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery in rural Beecher City, Illinois. Memorials may go to New Horizon Church, Springhill Cemetery, or the donor’s choice. Berniece was born on January 24, 1928 in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of Willie Wilson and Gertie Mae (Hissong) Scholes. She worked as a CNA and cook at Lutheran Care Center for many years. She was a member of the New Horizon Church in St. Elmo, Illinois. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Ron Pasley (wife Jeanne) of Edgewood, Illinois and Don Pasley (wife Wanda) of Beecher City, Illinois; daughters, Sandra Pasley of St. Elmo, Illinois, Myonia Swaton of St. Elmo, Illinois, and Robbin Sapp of Shobonier, Illinois; sisters, Velma Seaton of St. Elmo, Illinois and Susie Johnson of Altamont, Illinois; 15 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Gertie Scholes; son, Paul Pasley; brothers, Vernon Scholes and Herb Scholes; sisters, Eileen Gatewood and Rosalie Cox; two sons-in-law, Art Swaton and Steve Sapp.
