Carol was born July 31, 1952 in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Emma Hoene. She married Ronald E. West on August 19, 1989 in Effingham, Illinois.

Carol graduated from St. Anthony High School in Effingham, Illinois, Class of 1970. She is a graduate of SIU Edwardsville, Illinois.

Carol was an Elder of Good Fight of Faith Church, Effingham, Illinois. She worked in the Unit 40 School System, as a home caregiver, and as a wonderful homemaker.

Carol was a loving wife, devoted mother and her eyes lit up like diamonds at the mention of her grandchildren. She was a true friend to everyone she met.

Carol’s legacy is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a scholar of the Word of God and loved preaching and teaching. We believe she will continue to preach God’s Word on the golden streets of Heaven with lil-pup by her side. She loved her family and church gatherings, the more the merrier. She loved playing cards with her family and friends, and was affectionately known as “Karo”. Her infectious smile was a result of her pure and innocent heart, which brought joy to all around her. There was no challenge too great or task too small for this daughter of God, she had a true servant’s heart. Her greatest Joy was doing God’s will, and her greatest concern was and still is your salvation and you knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Carol is survived by her husband Ron of Watson, her son Devin (Gwen) Hammack, Effingham; daughter, Samantha Hammack, Strasburg; grandchildren, Emmalynna, Liam, Jaxson, and Nicholas Hammack; brothers, Frank (Janet) Hoene, Effingham, Michael (Cindy) Hoene, Effingham, and Patrick Hoene; friend Judith, Florida; brother-in-law, Bill Flach, Edwardsville; and sister-in-law, Nellie Hoene, Indiana. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews of whom she loved so dearly. And of course Puppy, the dachshund.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Hoene; sisters Mary Flach and Norma Wagner.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to hospice and all who assisted in her care. Additional thanks to the cancer center personnel who served and assisted in her care. She loves you all so dearly.
